Dear Families,
This week was only 3 days long but it was jam packed with learning and visits from the CIS Accreditation Team. The team of two met with students, parents, teachers and support staff throughout the week, and spent time virtually observing (using iPads and Google Meets) classrooms. They interacted with teachers, but mostly engaged with students about their learning. I was extremely proud of our Primary students, and the way they were able to articulate what they were learning, the purpose of their learning, their goals, and their next steps. It is a real testament to them, and to their teachers, for keeping learning meaningful and personal.
ABIS students are starting to meet as the newly formed “Community Council”. This is a group of mainly secondary students, with 4 primary members, 2 from Grade 5 and 2 from Grade 6. The purpose of this team is to meet weekly in order to plan some fun team building activities throughout the year that all students can participate and be involved in. The first school wide event is planned for the last day of the academic year, Thursday, December 16. All students from grades K-12 are invited to wear (appropriate) pajamas to school that day! More details about end of year celebrations will come from homeroom teachers closer to the date. Please be assured that teaching and learning will continue as usual over the coming 2 weeks before winter break.
Please enjoy the cooler weather over the weekend and try to spend some time outdoors with your family if you can. Maeve
