Hello! In grade 10 over the past eight weeks, we have learned about film technique, analyzed film clips, read and written film reviews, and have practiced taking a critical look at some of our favorite (and least favorite) films… and now, it is time to put it all together!
The grade 10 students picked a film to pick apart. Many of them chose films that they loved. Others films that they felt should not have the love and following they do. One even took the realistic route of reviewing a film currently in theater. They have spent the last week compiling their thoughts and organizing their words to produce a film review that speaks from their voice. This genuine piece of writing allows them the self-expression to communicate their ideas and justify their opinions. What’s more, now that they have started analyzing films, they may never watch film without thinking about how it’s done, ever again.
