Dear Grade 5 Parents & Students,

We have another wonderful week of learning in Grade 5 this week.

In Mathematics we completed our “Show what you know now” post assessment on place value and every one said that they were so pleased with how much they had learnt and grown in their knowledge. The words students used to describe their feelings about mathematics are: PROUD, IMPRESSED, HAPPY and CONFIDENT.  The teachers feel the same!

In Language we have been learning how to improve our writing skills and have attended workshop lessons on Stretching Sentences, Prepositions, Time words and Synonyms ( better words) for said, colours and common words. This will be very useful when we start writing biographies about Human Rights activists next week.

In our Unit of Inquiry we have been exploring how we can make everyone in our community feel valued. We were inspired by the book, “Have you Filled a Bucket Today.” We have been finalising our essential agreements and completing art to represent human rights and improving our IT skills designing logos.

We are hoping that some of you might be interested in joining our Human Library

More information and a sign up sheet is here on this link if you are interested in sharing some of your expertise with G5 students.

Have a wonderful weekend
