This year, grade 11 and 12 art students are grouped together in a split class. This is great because it allows for more sharing of ideas and techniques between peers.
Our DP1 students have recently chosen conceptual themes to guide their art exploration over the next two years; these include chaos, conflict, and fantasy. (It is quite common for working artists to follow a particular theme for several years and this is often what leads to a series of work for a show!) G11 is also working on a “20 in 20” challenge–20 artworks in 20 days using a common object as inspiration–and they are investigating other artists that work with found objects as well.
In DP2, Lizzy is finishing a large-format oil painting while also practicing a new technique using ballpoint pen. The first major deadline will arrive at the end of November, when the Comparative Study task is due.
