Hi everyone,

We are in our penultimate week all together as Grade 5 and we can’t believe how quickly this year has gone.

Well done to students who have completed their Omani exams in Arabic, Islamic studies and Omani social studies. What a busy week for you.

Each morning for brain gym we have been completing a daily “Kids Power Up” dance routine organised by UNICEF. For every dance we complete, we gain tokens to donate meals or trees and give a therapeutic food packet to a malnourished child. This week we gained enough points to donate 1 meal and 1 packet. Students can continue this through the summer themselves by signing up to Unicef Kids’ Power.

In Mathematics we have been studying averages ( mean, mode, median and range) as well as probability using fractions, decimals and percentages to calculate likelihood. We used this to predict the winners in dice races!

In Language we have continued to write poetry on the theme of ecosystems, inspired by Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright and other famous poems. We have been focusing especially on performances and were inspired by famous poets reading their own poetry in several different styles.

In Unit we have been creative and completed several art challenges to add to our inquiry into our chosen living things. Our websites are close to being published, so watch this space.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to our last week in Grade 5.

Ms Deb
