Dear Families,

This time of year is always a flurry of activity in schools, with end of year plans, report cards and completion of projects and assignments happening, in addition to the anticipation of summer holidays and the changes coming up next academic year.  In the midst of the excitement, please take some time to reflect on the year of learning with your child.  Many things have happened over the course of the year and it is a great opportunity to talk about growth and achievements. Take the time to celebrate the hard work your child has given to this school year and the new skills and understandings developed because of that effort.  Everyone has something to be proud of, be sure to let your child know that you are proud of them!

We are very proud of all of our students, but this week in particular we are celebrating the accomplishments of the Grade 6 students and their teachers.  Throughout the school year, students have been working in different groups, investigating global issues that were dear to their hearts. These include: Racism, Pollution and the Environment, Endangered Species, Social Media, Physical Fitness and Mental Health.  Students demonstrated voice, choice and ownership and they drove their inquiries, organized their research, and worked as a team to demonstrate their learning through a shared website developed by the the entire class.  Please take the time to visit this website and provide a positive comment to the teachers and students about their hard work.  You can visit by clicking here:  Grade 6 PYP Exhibition Website.  We congratulate all Grade 6 students and wish them the very best as they leave Primary school behind and move onwards and upwards in their education journeys.

Report cards are being completed now.  Please continue to read the communications coming home from teachers, especially the details in the Sunday emails for each class, in order to remain informed about assignment deadlines and other important dates over the coming 2 weeks.  Reports will be shared with families on Wednesday, June 16 and the last day of classes will be Thursday, June 17.

Next week we will have two final materials drop off / pick up days: Wednesday, June 9: 2-4pm and Thursday, June 10: 7:30-10am.  A reminder newsflash will go home next week.  Any leftover notebooks, student work or belongings are being packaged up by teachers and will be available at the front gate for pick up.  We also ask that you return any school materials sent home to support home learning that can be used again next school year, such as white boards or scissors.  It is important to return all books to ABIS for use in the classroom next year, or to be catalogued in our newly developing library. Teachers will provide any more specific information about materials required to be returned in their Sunday emails.  If you are uncertain, please contact them directly.

Students with iPads can continue to use them at home over the summer.  Only students leaving ABIS permanently must return their iPads.  Please contact Mr. Atul: a.alex@abisoman.com to confirm a time to return the iPad if necessary.  If you are not returning to ABIS in August and have not yet informed the school, please let Ms. Eiman: e.alrisi@abisoman.com know right away.

We are accepting applications from new students for all grades for the upcoming academic year.  Please encourage any families you know to visit ABIS by contacting Ms. Eiman or me, and that I am more than happy to meet with potential new families and provide them a tour of the campus. The Administration Team is already planning for a successful and exciting new year of learning for everyone in August.

Enjoy your weekend and continue to stay safe. Maeve
