Dear parents,

This week was unusual with the rain and storms sweeping across Oman. I hope that you are all safe and have not been inconvenienced. There are some who have had poor internet connections because of the storm and I want to reassure parents and students that teachers are aware of this and will support those students where necessary.

The government has announced that next week, Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 are public holidays. Whether school will resume the following Sunday 16 or Tuesday 18 is yet to be announced.

We held a survey across the parent body with a focus on start times for next year; this topic has undergone extensive review and consultation. I am pleased to announce that next year the start time will be adjusted to 8.00 am, with school finishing at 3.00pm. Thursday will start at 8.00am and finish at 1.00 pm as normal. Thank you for the outstanding response to the survey, and for your patience as we explored the options.

I am also pleased to send you the link for the academic calendar for next year which was approved today by the Ministry of Education. Please note that the calendar does not have the national holidays on it. The calendar can be found here.

Have a restful and safe weekend.

Dominic Robeau
