Dear parents,
I trust that everyone had a great long weekend.
Our first week back with students learning online and students have made the transition with ease. While we would much prefer the students be at school, it is reassuring to know that students have been able to go to their online classes and interact with teachers and peers. We have no way of knowing how long students will be online but I do expect this period to run throughout Ramadan.
The Ministry of Education yesterday confirmed that the IB Diploma examinations in May will not go ahead; grade 12 students will receive their IB Diploma based on the ‘non-exam route’ organized by the IB for countries worldwide. The IB Heads Council has stated: “We … believe the non-exam route for allocating results to students who are unable to take exams is fair, clear and will allow for grades to be distributed that will reflect their achievements and abilities. This dual-route system was used in the November 2020 series which we found to be equitable and transparent”. We are equally confident that the results generated by the non-exam route will be fair and relevant for each of our grade 12 students.
The student led conferences are next week, please remember to organize times to visit with your child’s teachers here.
On Sunday parents can come to school to pick up materials for the primary school. Please also drop off any library books that have been read.
Please keep an eye on your child and their engagement with their online learning, monitor their wellbeing and ensure they get social time with friends and regular meals, exercise and rest!
Have a wonderful weekend.
