Dear parents,

We have a had a busy week leading up to Oman week which starts next Sunday and runs until next Thursday. During the week students will be engaged in all manner of activities on the school campus. We are looking forward to seeing the children engaged in all manner of activities that reflect the culture, people and land of Oman. As well, there is the Walkathon that many students will participate in over the five days! I look forward to seeing them undertake this worthy cause.

Next week is also the week of mock examina tions for Grade 10 students. We wish them all the best as they sit the IB mock online exams for the first time.

The Semester One reports were released to day and you will find the link to your child’s report in your email. This report is the culmination of all the assessments and work your child has done during the last five months and we are proud of how they have coped with the challenges of online learning before returning to school. Please do read through the report with your child, praise their good work, ask questions, show understanding and guide them to decide on how best to improve where necessary.

Today was an important day as Mr Khamis Al Shamsi, who has been with ABIS since 2007, has taken retirement. Mr Al Shamsi drove the bus and over 13 years brought hundreds of students to school and home safely. He was always on time, never had an accident, managed the children on the bus with care and compassion, and took their safety very seriously. Mr Al Shamsi was an extremely valuable member of ABIS staff. This afternoon Mr Al Shamsi was our guest of honor along with those who have worked closely with him over the years. In our ceremony of gratitude, we thanked him for his service to the ABIS community and gave him farewell gifts. We sincerely wish Mr Al Shamsi all the best for the future.

The afternoon pickup seems to be much smoother now; thank you to everyone for ensuring the safety of the children and following the new guidelines.

Have a wonderful weekend!
