Writing – Character Study
We have been exploring the likes, dislikes, wants, needs and traits of characters. We started by exploring characters we were familiar with – Cinderella and her evil Step Mother.
We then used what we learnt from exploring these familiar characters and applied this learning to create characters of our own. Every student could identify their protagonist (the character who wanted or needed something) and their antagonist (the character who was trying to stop them from achieving it). Some students have started writing these stories down and next week we will be able to hear them and provide feedback. So much excitement has been generated through this process.
Unit of Inquiry – Exploring cultures
As part of our tuning in to our new Unit of Inquiry, we brainstormed the things we thought helped contribute to making cultures similar or different, .

Students have been sharing cultural artefacts as part of their show and tell this week.
Sahil, Ali, Ms Salim and Celia all shared artefacts that hold particular importance to their cultures.
UOI – Comparing and Contrasting Our Cultures
In pairs we brainstormed the things that made two of our cultures the same or different.

Maths – 2-D Shapes
We have been looking at 2-D shapes in the real world and learning how to classify 2-D shapes by using their sides, corners, length of sides and parallel lines.
Science
We are learning to observe, document and draw like scientists.
