Thank you to our community for understanding the need to be online again for these two weeks. Teachers and families who travelled over the holiday have returned and nearly all have completed quarantine. So now that we are ready to open our doors again, we have a few people to formally welcome… finally!

I wish to welcome Ms. Maureen Baier and Ms. Ty Lougher who have endured many challenges in getting their visas approved. But they are here; they are grateful; and they have already been in the classrooms getting ready for the students to arrive on Sunday.

I wish to also welcome Ms. Cora Brady who will be teaching Grade 7 English as well as a class in the primary school. Ms. Brady has been working with Mr. Howes and Ms. Mekhala to ensure a smooth transition as we start the new semester. If you wish to contact Ms. Brady to wish her a welcome hello, please feel free (c.brady@abisoman.com)

A few key points for the coming week:

  • Starting again on Sunday, Drop-off is at 7:45 and secondary children are expected at their desks by 8:15 for registration.
  • With all students planning to be back face-to-face in most grades, we will be discontinuing dual instruction (live and online) for those grades. For the two grades with students who continue online, we will still offer limited support.
  • Students will be reminded about the importance of wearing masks, washing and sanitizing hands frequently, maintaining social distance, not sharing food, utensils or materials, and general health protocols that will make returning to school a healthy and happy experience for the ABIS community. Please speak with your child at home and help them to remember and practice these safety measures. It has been a month now since they were at school and receiving the same message from home and school will help them be successful, and keep everyone healthy and safe.
  • Dismissal time for grades 1-12 will be 3:20pm. Dismissal time for KG 1, 2, and 3 students will be 1pm.

These two weeks back online have been a great reminder of how good we have it that we are able to safely return to classes at ABIS.
