Dear Primary Families;

Welcome to 2021 and a new year in Sohar and at ABIS.  I wish all of you health, happiness and success in the coming year.

Our classes started online this week and students were truly happy to be back together again, even if virtually.  It’s been wonderful to see the smiling faces and to hear the stories of time spent during vacation.  Students have been working hard and fell back into the routine of joining different teacher’s meeting rooms easily. Many are working on their Science Fair projects and we are looking forward to seeing the results of their learning on our science website soon. Online learning continues until Thursday, Jan. 14.

During teacher meetings this week, we have begun to look forward to Oman Week, which happens in February.  This year we cannot plan the same types of events that normally occur, but teachers are working collaboratively to ensure that Omani culture is the focus of the week and that some fun activities and learning will occur despite our Covid restrictions.  You will hear more information about this from your child’s teacher as the date gets closer.

While the campus has been quiet this week, we have been busy here as well, ensuring that everything is ready for teachers and students to safely return to face to face learning on January 17.  We are excited to see everyone again and to welcome our youngest learners from Kg 1, 2, and 3 to their classrooms for the first time this year.  Please make note of the following start and finish times beginning on Sunday, Jan. 17:

  • Drop Off for all students (KG1 through Grade 12): 7:50am – 8:20am
  • Pick Up Time for KG 1, 2, 3 students: 1:00pm (KG 3 students will eventually stay for full days, more details to come from Ms. Liezel and Ms. Carolina)
  • Pick Up Time for Grades 1-12 students: 3:20pm

As always, feel free to contact your child’s teacher or me with any questions at all about your child’s learning or the routines at school.
