We have been developing our research skills this week by finding information about how we can look after some of the systems of the human body. We are learning to find and summarise information in our own words. We also found that it is important to think about whether the information is worth believing. When Isabel found a site that said we shouldn’t bounce on trampolines, we considered the pros and cons and concluded that bouncing on trampolines is a good activity for our bodies, but to avoid breaking bones we should be careful about the way we go about it.

We also took time to find the answers to some of the questions we have asked about the human body. The students thought of so many great questions and we enjoyed making connections between some of the information we found in our answers. Did you know that your hair grows faster when the weather is warm? And that, it grow more in daylight than at night!

We really enjoyed drawing anatomical hearts with Ms Markin this week. By using a different media to do so, and adding them to the lungs we painted last week, we created multi media artworks.

Grade 3 students have done some very thoughtful writing this week. They wrote a reflection on how their thinking has changed about the Human Body and then applied their knowledge by writing a letter to themselves for when they are 18 years old. In the letter as well as asking various questions about what their life is like, each student has written some advice to themselves for when they are 18. Hopefully these will bring some smiles and helpful reminders when these are opened in 10 years time.

Before we said Goodbye to each other for the Winter break, we thanked Ms Suad for all the help she has given our class this year. We have been very fortunate to have her support with our online, face to face and blended learning. We will look forward to seeing her around the school when she works with the children in ECC.

Look who popped in for fitness!

Grade 3 have achieved some super learning in 2020. I wish you all a very happy holiday and look forward to seeing you after the winter break. Stay healthy and well.
