This week, students started exploring mathematics as an area of knowledge. We looked at questions such as “Is mathematics a language?” And “What is the importance of mathematics to other areas of knowledge?” One of our activities this week was creating our own number system and trying it out with equations. This helped to explore the claim that mathematics is a universal language. Below are some creative examples of number systems from our grade 11 students.
