Dear Families,

We are very pleased with the success of this week at ABIS! Students and teachers worked hard in both online and face to face learning groups and overall the transitions went very smoothly. As was announced last week, families can change their mind on a weekly basis at the moment, and this week we had approximately 12 students from Primary decide to return face to face starting next Sunday.  In order to ensure continued quality of learning, we would ask that you inform Ms. Eiman and your child’s teachers early in the week so that the necessary adjustments and preparations can be made.

You received an email from our IT Coordinator Mr. Atul this week, providing you with the link to our school information management system Managebac. Please log in to Managebac to access your child’s progress report, which was sent home today.  The progress reports are an excellent opportunity to have a conversation with your child about learning: strengths and achievements should be celebrated!  And there is always a “next step” for all of us on our learning journeys: talk to your child about what he/she wants to learn about and improve in during the comings weeks.

Next week, those conversations will be continued during our 3 Way Conferences, where you will meet with your child and his/her teacher(s) to talk about strengths, goals and strategies to meet those goals, with support from both home and school. If you have not signed up for a meeting time yet, please do so here. These conferences will be held during the afternoons of Monday, November 16 and Tuesday, November 17. There will be no school for students those afternoons, dismissal for all Primary students will be at 12:40pm.

Please note that ABIS originally scheduled the Omani National Day long weekend for next week, however, the announcement today is that those holidays will now be on Wednesday, November 25 and Thursday, November 26.  Next week there will be regular classes on Wednesday and Thursday.

We do encourage all students and staff to dress in recognition of Omani National Day next Wednesday, November 18. It will be wonderful to see everyone dressed in traditional national dress, or in red, green and white!
