Dear parents,

The first week with the school open to all students has been a great success. Our planning and implementation of ABIS health and safety protocols demonstrate a high attention to the ongoing health of our students and staff.

The Sohar Aluminium Health and Safety team said this in their report this week: The School has implemented a very thorough COVID control plan and initiatives. Overall, the team had carried out excellent work in adhering to the controls set out by the MoE and CDC. Well done to the entire team.

A new video is being created demonstrating the health and safety protocols for our students in class and around the campus. It will be released to parents soon.

We are pleased to have been able to welcome students back to school and look forward to the coming weeks. For those students at home, our Distance Learning continues as normal with the same high level of teaching and learning that we have implemented since the start of the school year.

Several communications have been sent to parents this week including:

1. Arrangements for the parent–student-teacher conferences. Please book time with your child’s teachers.

2. The uniform shop is open online. Due to our current health and safety regulations, parents cannot come on the school grounds to purchase uniforms. Please do use the online site.

3. The dates for the long weekend have been changed by the government. The new dates are 25-26 November. Next week there will be no holidays, school is as normal.

4. Michelle Simpson has announced her plans to leave ABIS in December and return to New Zealand. We will all miss her.

5. Should you wish your child to change from online to attending school, this can only be done by advising the administration office on Thursday for first return to school the following Sunday.

6. The first two weeks after the winter break will be delivered online for all students to allow students and teachers time for quarantine should they travel overseas. School starts online on Monday 4 January, until Thursday the 14th of January 2021.

Enjoy your weekend!
