Dear parents,

This week has been a whirlwind of events with the Ministry of Education visiting, then giving ABIS approval to open, as well as allowing the opening of KG3 online. Further, their warm compliments on how the school is organised for the safety and wellbeing of the students were well received.

Yesterday we had an inspection from the Sohar Aluminium Health and Safety team to view all class setups and our health and safety protocols. We were pleased to have them visit, their advice and approval were greatly appreciated.

Lots of communications have been going out to parents, starting with the decision to start grades 9-11 on Wednesday this week and then all grades on Sunday November 8. There was also the letter to be signed if your child was returning to school, another letter if your child was staying home for online learning, bus registration, and communications from individual Primary teachers on how the classes will be set up. If you do have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the team leaders, Ms Maeve Doherty and Mr Jon Adams.

We have been delighted to see grades 9-12 on campus this week and we are excited that many of our students will return to school on Sunday. After 8 long months of no students at school it feels as if the ABIS is coming alive again. To see the students engaging with each other, talking to their teachers and walking around this very special campus is heart warming.

Those who stay home for online learning will continue to have access to their teachers and just as those students who come to school, students at home will receive the same quality instruction as they have had since online learning began this year. Should you wish to change your child’s status from online to face to face or vice versa, this can be done next Thursday for the following week.

Next week students progress reports will be produced via Managebac, the system students use most days. Each parent will be sent a unique ID and password to Managebac to log-in and download their child’s report card. Instructions on how to login and access report cards will be provided next week. This system is an excellent way to easily and quickly obtain report cards.

The following week, on Monday 16 November and Tuesday 17 November, school will have a half day to allow time for parents and students to meet with teachers for virtual (online) three way conferences. Every teacher will provide a booking sheet for parents to request a time to meet. More details will be provided early next week.

The school drop off process in the mornings will be changed to allow for the least delay for students and parents. More details will be provided on Saturday. However, do keep an eye out for our staff in the bright yellow vests who will be directing traffic at the school on Sunday.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
