Dear Primary Families,

What a pleasure it was to see such great attendance at our Parent Information virtual meetings last night. Being informed about your child’s learning and building relationships with teachers at ABIS are excellent first steps towards a successful school year.

We were happy this week to be able to offer iPads for Distance Learning to our grades 1 and 2 students.  We hope the use of these devices will make learning from home a little easier for students and families. If you are experiencing difficulties when using the iPad, please contact our wonderful IT Manager, Mr. Atul: a.alex@abisoman.com

Already we have reached the end of our third week of Distance Learning.  As we all look forward to the day when we can be face to face again, it is rewarding to see the learning and growth occurring in our students online.  Routines and moving between classes and activities are becoming second nature to our young charges, and the focus is now on developing communication and thinking skills while using a variety of new and interesting technology tools.

Many classes also celebrated International Dot Day, based on the inspiring book, “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds.  Students dressed in polka dots, created artwork with dots as a starting point, completed “dotty” math activities and wrote responses to the story.  Ask your child to tell you all about it; it’s a story that encourages self expression, creativity, and confidence.

Please continue to talk to your child about his/her learning experiences this year, and maintain open communication with ABIS teachers throughout the year.  We appreciate your involvement and feedback as we all work together towards one goal: happy, engaged students who are motivated to do their best.

Wishing you all a relaxing weekend.

Maeve
