This week Grade 3 have been working hard and creating shape poems. They used their creativity to design calligrams. A calligram is a word or piece of text where the letters create a picture that is connected to the word.

The results were very effective with the students choosing words such as grow and stretch to use for their calligrams. Animals were used to inspire shape poems and written in the shape of their chosen creature.

In maths this week students made a dust cover for a book by using their measuring skills. Design was then used to make a striking cover. While at home it is great to play games in maths. Place value to 1000 was reinforced with a pack of playing cards. As each card was turned over they had to decide where to place the card to make the largest number.

To complete our unit of inquiry, Grade 3 designed and made some super sandwiches. They looked fantastic and tasted even better. Well done with your work this week.
