Over the last week we have been very lucky to have a great deal of advice from the Ministry of Health (MOH). They have reassured us that we as a school can rely on the support of the MOH with regard to the Coronavirus. ABIS is committed to following their advice through the coming weeks. The MOH have comprehensive screening checks in place at border crossings and are making informed decisions on a case-by-case basis around the appropriate actions to be taken.

Currently, there is no requirement for schools to take any special measures. However, at ABIS will be implementing a range of strategies that have been shown to make a difference in these kinds of situations.

Right now, they will be as follows:

  • We will be checking the temperature of everybody entering the school to ensure that we are all fever free. Please understand that this will inevitably lead to some waiting time at the school gates so please plan accordingly.
  • Teachers will allocate time for mandatory handwashing at regular intervals. Washing your hands regularly and effectively has been shown to be the most effective way of stopping the spread of both bacteria and viruses.
  • Custodial staff to ensure tissues available throughout the school and students will be actively encouraged to use them if they sneeze or cough.
  • Sanitizing gel dispensers will be installed at strategic points across the school.

These measures will change as the situation develops, and hopefully, improves over time.

To reiterate what we have previously shared, it is important that we encourage all our children to not worry and for everyone to stay calm. If you or your child is feeling unwell with symptoms of fever or coughing please do not come to school but instead seek medical advice. If you have any health related questions ABIS encourages you to address them to health professionals. They are the ones who know best. Our Team Leaders will be happy to answer any procedural questions that you may have.
