In Grade 3 we have tried and learned many new things this week. We are making the most of the cooler weather to do fitness outside in the mornings. We use part of the playground for our warm up and down.

We have learned a fun new game to practise our skills in using place value with three digit numbers.

Although we keep working on developing our number knowledge, in Maths we are also learning about fractions. Understanding that a higher denominator means a smaller fraction is a challenging concept. Talal was able to use a fraction table to explain why one fraction was bigger than another.

Our latest unit of inquiry is ‘Exploring Civilisations through Artefacts’. We are looking into the Ancient Greek civilisation and after finding out a little bit of information about life 3000 years ago, we are beginning to formulate questions. We have already found out that some of the things the Greeks did all those years ago, people still do today e.g. voting, law courts and the Olympic Games.

There is so much to learn! Maryam and Turkey have been very eager learners in Grade 3 this week.
