Throughout the Unit of Inquiry, we have been responding to music through different art techniques. The students have chosen colours and styles to show their personal understanding of different emotions. The mood of songs was not discussed with students, they had to formulate their own interpretation.
Comments from the students “I feel more connected”, ” the music makes me feel happy”, “My friends felt silly so we did a penquin walk”, “The happy music made me feel excited”, “We were feeling a bit crazy by the happy music”,”silly and crazy”, “I felt like skipping”, “I felt like a butterfly in a new home”, “Makes me mad scared”!
Students have been comparing groups and using mathematical language to describe them. They can identify groups with less or more and even described that halves have equal amounts. We have also been further exploring patterns and how they repeat in different ways. To support our number development, we have been subitising.
We created a rubric to help us include all the success criteria for our stories.
