For STEAM this week, students worked in groups of three or four to navigate in the Amazon Rainforest after a make believe plane crash. Students used map scales, keys and longitude and latitude coordinates to figure out where they were. Grade fours and fives decided where they would be rescued (city), the distance to that location, the route to take, and made calculations to estimate the walking travel.
