Parent’s Evening and our awesome Dot Day Assembly meant there were plenty of opportunities this week to share some of the fun we are having in Grade 1.
It was tremendous to have so many families able to visit on Monday evening. The level of support for our home-school connections is another vote of confidence for a great year ahead.
Following on from one of the discussions on Monday evening I’m suggesting a few stories with a maths focus that you might like to share. We have made our own Number Packets and have been using the digit cards to build big numbers and identify numbers ‘just before’, ‘just after’ and ‘between’ others. The following books would give you some good opportunities to talk about numbers.
Exploring ‘Who We Are’ through our Unit of Inquiry is helping us to build a strong foundation for our learning community. This week we have taken time to think and write about how ‘helping words’ and ‘helping hearts’ can build a class environment we feel happy belonging to. I hear thoughtful words being spoken and see how willing the children are to share the responsibility for their learning space. ???
Routines are developing and the children have amazed me at how well they have managed their ‘Homepacks’ and readers over the last few days. Thank you for your support with this. Today they will add their ‘Home Learniung’ books to their packs and it is really important that these travel between home and school every day.
Wishing you all a restfull weekend.
See you back here for Book Week!
