Two Grade 6 students and 5 secondary students attended the Emirates Airlines Festival of Literature in Dubai on March 9 and 10. Ms. Brewer and Ms Sarah were the chaperones. Students attended numerous author sessions, learning about what inspires authors and the process they use to create their novels.

Some sessions were via video conference with more than 100 people in attendance, others were more intimate with fewer than 20 parents, teachers and students in attendance.

Following the sessions, authors were available to sign books and talk with students.

Al Batinah International School was very well represented by its students. They were respectful audience members, who asked great questions of the authors during question time!

Although students in Grades 6-10 attended from ABIS, it is worth mentioning that there were many sessions geared to younger audiences(Grades 1 and up). Parents of younger Primary students might want to think about making a trip with their family to Dubai for next year’s Festival. This year was the 10th annual festival. We are looking forward to attending with students in Grades 6 and up next year!
