Grade 2 have worked well this week to consolidate their skills in solving subtracting problems by partitioning numbers. Explaining the strategy we use is an important part of our learning. As we practise, more students are beginning to solve subtraction problems in their mind.

We enjoyed playing Maths Rockets and extended this to include three dice. In one version we add the dice and another we use the digits to make a three digit number.

On Monday we celebrated our lovely Ms Maryam’s birthday and happily had a piece of her birthday cake. She is a very special person to us.
We were excited to see the fountain at the bus entrance spring into life this week.

In UoI we are learning about types of extreme weather. A mini sandstorm earlier in the week fitted in perfectly with our inquiry. Looking at photographs helped us to identify distinguishing features of different types of extreme weather. As we learn more, we are writing the questions that come to mind in our Wondering books…and get pretty excited when we discover some answers.

Making the most of the cool mornings, we had a great time playing Octopus during fitness time.
