Last Wednesday ABIS senior basketball teams played friendly games against the Sohar Park Club. The girls were first up on court and a much improved opposition team were quick to show they meant business to put first points on the board and run away to an early lead. Our girls tried hard to regroup and three strong baskets from Courtney put ABIS back in the game but the Sohar Park team were proving too strong under the basket and pulled away to a big lead at half time. Our girls finally found some teamwork in the second half and got to within three points but couldn’t quite get there going down 25-20. For ABIS Courtney scored 8, Tay’a 6 and Andee 4 to make up the bulk of the scoring.

The boys played next and put on their best display ever on a basketball court. Slick teamwork and skillful moves had the cheering crowd showing their appreciation as the ABIS boys totally outclassed a very strong opposition. Our guards, Newton, Klint and Julio controlled the game beautifully and set up some wonderful plays with perfect passes to open up many scoring opportunities. David fed off a lot of these plays and used his skills and height to maximum advantage to score a massive 34 points. Rhett, Kameron, Isaac and Ishtiaq made up a strong defense and also joined in well to the offensive plays. Klint was next on the scoreboard scoring 10 points followed by Newton with 8 in a great game by our boys who ran out winners 67-35.
