We have had 17 weeks of learning so far this school year, minus a few days of unplanned holidays! This morning we celebrated this learning and development at our international breakfast with our community of Grade 3 to 12 students. Our brass band played a festive tune from the top floor for all the people down below. This was a fantastic experience and showed how much progress our brass band has made under the enthusiastic guidance of Mr Griebenow.
In addition to the breakfast, we had a short assembly where we handed out the MCAS (Modified, Creativity, Activity and Service) awards. These awards revealed how many different areas our students are developing themselves in that reach beyond academics. Of course later in the year we will celebrate their academic progress and achievements too. On top of this we acknowledged the excellent effort put into yesterday’s sports day. Some great competition, friendly rivalry and true sportsmanship.
With a three holiday ahead, the message to students was to reconnect with families and friends, find balance, read, and travel if they are lucky enough to have the opportunity. We also said that this is a good time to pause, reflect, review their progress and set new goals for the new year!
If you are travelling, have a wonderful break with your family and we’ll see you in the new year.
