ABIS Staff have been extremely busy preparing for the CIS Accreditation visit, which begins on Sunday November 26 and lasts for a week. Eight very professional and experienced educators – including three school heads and two principals – will visit and review our progress. This will be the end of a two year effort to perform a self study in the school but also make lots of improvements. Becoming accredited is extremely challenging so please wish us luck!
Our ABIS senior footballers had their first ever 11 a side game on a full size pitch on Wednesday and played really well. Their opponents were Sohar International School, who just scraped a victory by scoring in the final moments of the game. We can’t wait to get our football pitch against our friendly rivals down the road.
Today all of our staff were in school attending a Professional Development day. The focus of the day was ‘inclusion’ and how to make learning relevant to our diverse (different) student body. We are discussing important concepts like prior learning, valuing differences, extending students, and scaffolding (how to support students), celebrating identity and building self esteem. We hope that this teacher development will enhances your child’s learning.
