From Ms Amira and Ms Denise:
We are both very excited to have joined the ABIS family this year. We look forward to meeting and working with all your children. Our purpose is to support and meet your children’s needs so that they will have another successful year at ABIS. If we are not in the classroom, you can always find us upstairs in the Early Years building right by the library in our cozy corner office which we share with Mr Mohannad, one of our Arabic teachers.
About us!
Amira (right) Hachem has assumed several capacities, over the past 16 years, in primary teaching, K-5 literacy coaching, teacher training and consulting. Her educational background is replete with degrees, certifications and journal publications from the UK, USA and Lebanon. Before joining ABIS, Amira worked in the State of Qatar as a Senior Educational Consultant and developed several dual language and multilingual schools. Her strongest professional commitment and expertise lie in the areas of Literacy Education and Differentiation of Instruction. She is also invested in presenting at national and international educational conferences about language acquisition.
Denise (left) Kaw is a product of the international school system like many of our students. She was born in the USA, spent most of her childhood in Japan at a small international school, and went “home” every Christmas and every summer to the Philippines, where both her parents were born and raised. She received her Masters in Teaching at the University of Virginia and went on to teach in schools in Washington DC, Beijing, and now Sohar. She enjoys traveling, good eats, and good books.
