The swim gala on Wednesday was a fabulous and a rewarding experience for everyone involved, and especially so for the Blue Dolphins, who given their aquatic name, should win it each year. Even so it was very, very close! Students tended to be very ‘involved’ and ‘challenged’ themselves, which is a crucial part of our mission, however, more than that they were a team. Team mentality – getting involved and supporting your team members – is very important in our school and community. No less important are progress and success and it was great to see how much many students have improved and developed with their swimming, some scoring their first ever victories. Thank you to coaches Carberry and Jacobs for their effort, time and encouragement and for organising a first class event. Commiserations to Mr Carberry who narrowly lost to My Griebenow and his son Isaac in an ‘unofficial’ butterfly race that took part at lunchtime – though Mr G. is less than half his age and Isaac exactly a third! Mr Carberry is still a machine.

Students are currently preparing for the Student Led Conferences.  Serious preparation is currently taking place as students reflect on their progress, achievement and set new goals. We hope that all parents can make it to support their children in what is normally a really meaningful experience for students, parents and teachers. Hopefully, all Grade 10 and 12 parents will be there for the important 6pm meetings on exam preparation.

Mid semester 2 ‘Need to know’ reports will be sent home early next week for students who are struggling with several subjects (a 3 or less), or have made significant improvement. This does not affect all students so please do not expect a report. For instance, if a student was doing really well, and is continuing to do really well, then a report will not be issued so no need to panic.
Focusing on the topic of art, the G12 Art exhibition have their art exhibition today, so we wish Corinne and Williams all the best. IGCSE art exams are next weekend so we also wish our G10 students all the best. We are hopeful of excellent results as they have been producing quality art this year.
Have a lovely weekend, enjoying unusual weather for this time of year!
