We are having a great deal of fun in our movement and dance class and forgetting all about film, but we managed to capture some fun moments with our youngest dancers!
We have been looking at lots of different ways in which we move, with children rolling, crawling, tiptoeing, jumping, running (“race cars!”) and stomping. The students have heard different kinds of music and tried to decide what moves work best with the music. Using the scarf as a prop and finding different ways to incorporate it into movement has also been a popular exercise.

Along the way we have also learned about moving separate parts of our bodies – our toes, our feet, our knees and our legs for our lower limbs and our fingers, hands and arms for our upper limbs. Some children who have demonstrated readiness have been learning how to balance on the balls of their feet (“What’s in the window!”) create shapes with their legs (knee bends in the turned out position) and swaying from side to side to encourage the use of core control to balance on one leg.

Finally, jumping with two feet is actually quite a challenge and we have been having goes at “bouncing balls” to develop that skill.
