It’s the end of another calendar year and we’ve been celebrating in Grade 2!
This week we dived further into our drama inquiries and did some more role-playing activities. We read the story “What do you do with an idea?”and found out more about the creative process. In Maths we tuned into what we already knew about Measurement and sorted measurement words into categories to find out what exactly we measure and which units of measurement we use. We checked our measuring skills by measuring each other in centimeters, it was fun! Students can go onto IXL Year 2 Measurement to refine their measurement skills. They may also work in Year 3 Meaurement but we haven’t learned/reviewed all skills and vocabulary yet so this may be difficult for them.
We also made some Christmas crafts and wrote “compliment presents” to each other. We talked about the real meaning of Christmas and how giving compliments makes people feel happy and loved. We randomly selected 6 names and had to write to those 6 people. I was really proud of all students as they wrote some very kind and thoughtful compliments to each other.
On Thursday we watched the movie “The Grinch” to celebrate Christmas AND to observe the great character development and acting skills of The Grinch! Jim Carrey’s performance in The Grinch is fantastic and the students loved watching his facial expressions and body movements.
Thursday was also our Arabic assembly. All students did an amazing job!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Safe travels.
