Grade 12 IB Chemistry students started the always thrilling Organic Chemistry topic, nomenclature and functional groups. Grade 12 Biology started with Genetics and modeled meiosis for a more visual understanding of the process. Grade 11 Biology started with Biochemistry and grade 11 Chemistry studied some quantum mechanics applied to orbitals and electronic configurations.
The grade 10 students were busy finishing electricity and with an introduction to inheritance and genes.
And by the way… Remember the Mesocosm project that current grade 12 Biology students started last year? Well, not only it has been running strong for more than 6 months but we saw several snail population explosions recently. Obviously an independent, viable and healthy aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem. Will it make it to the end of this academic year?
I will certainly keep you posted.
