Our Week in Review
This week we spent some time getting to know each other and learning our new classroom routines and procedures. We welcomed our 2 new students, Tina and Bayan, and got to meet many new teachers! This year Mr.G will be teaching the Grade 2 Music class, Mr. Jacobs will be teaching the students PE with Mr. Carberry, and Mr. Mohaned will be teaching Arabic to the Arabic Language Learners. We also welcomed our new teaching assistant Ms. Maryam to the Grade 2 classroom.
Creating Our Classroom Essential Agreements (Class Rules). As a class we did some brainstorming and made a list of what we think a fun learning classroom should feel like and how we should act in class to ensure that we have the best possible learning environment in Grade 2. I summarized our list and we found out that all the things we said fit nicely into our school code of conduct, Respect Yourself, Respect Others, and Respect the Environment. Students then wrote about and drew pictures to show their understanding of our newly created Essential Agreements. Check out our work hanging from the ceiling and on the back of our classroom door.
Throughout the week we also used our thinking skills to define what the Learner Profiles meant to us and chose our personal goals that we will be working on in the next few weeks. We worked on our writing this week, did lots of reading, and started reviewing our Math skills. I am very lucky to have such great students, and I am really looking forward to our learning together this year.
Have a lovely weekend!
Oh and sorry for the mix up on the class schedule, dismissal on Thursdays is at 1:00pm not 1:20pm.
