Grade nines, Tamika, Ellie and Claire from the secondary school were off to Muscat on Wednesday, where they participated in the British School of Muscat Choreography Competition.  Eight students performed – in two groups – in the Key Stage Four section of the competition, which was judged on eight different kinds of criteria.  The other non-performing students from our school were roped into helping collect and collate scores, run the lighting and sound, prepare the trophies and film the event.

The students were set against very highly talented students at BSM, who had hours of training and practice and who were used to working in a real theatre, able to choose their own lighting and sound.  I encouraged them to do their best, learn from their BSM peers, watch for step ideas, meet the kids (with whom we will collaborate at regular intervals next year), have practice performing and just enjoy themselves and do their best.

Their best was a first and a second place in their category.

I am still on cloud nine that they have done so well!  When you see them, let them know how amazing they are!
