The G12 Graduation last Thursday was a very special occasion and one that we are unlikely to forget. It was a first for the school in a number of respects: our first Grade 12 Graduation Ceremony, our first Grade 12 Class, and our first Diploma class, also made special by the fact that three out of our four High School Graduates have been with the school since Sohar Aluminium set up the school in 2008. If you can find the time, please watch the video tribute we have shared in the newsletter. Many of you will know Clarissa, James, Eckhart and Rining and will enjoy this footage. Thank you to everyone who supported the event.
The end of year exams have been running smoothly this week. We also ran the Ministry Arabic and Islamic exams in the SLS for the first time. The exams seems to go well and the Ministry inspector gave us very positive feedback about how things were run.
On Monday, Sohar Indian School brought up their boys and girls basketball teams and provided us with two high quality, nail biting matches. Both games were great to watch and showed how evenly matched we are. Though we held on to take the victory in both games, there was very little in it and we hope that SIS come back soon for more games. It’s great to be developing our links with the school and providing competitive opportunities for our students, something we intend to develop as the school grows. Well done to our students and thank you to coaches Carberry and Kearney. We have had some excellent results this year.
Welcome to Klint Marino (and his family), who joined us this week. We have been slowly growing throughout the year and have now reached 47 in the SLS. We will start the new school year with a minimum of 62 students in the SLS, which is really exciting for our students and paints a healthy picture of growth and development for the Secondary school. With more great teachers joining a very capable teaching team, the outlook is even more positive for the Secondary School, and ABIS as a whole, next year.
Enjoy the weekend!
