A fun week for all!

In the Primary School, the Dance Assembly last week was probably the best of its kind in a long time, and the children in the Primary School celebrated in style, by having some of the “fun” repertoire of dances revisited: Mexican Hat Dance and the Limbo being the staunch favourites. A post went out earlier with links to the Dance Assembly dances – I hope families have enjoyed visiting (or revisiting) their child’s moments.

This week we also started in earnest on the Omani dances.  There are four dances – K3-grade two share a girls and a boys dance and then grades three -five do likewise. Each class will feature in the dances.  We have to thank Miss Khadija for her help in choosing the music, providing inspiration for the steps and generally being her wonderful helpful self!

The date for the Omani Dance performance is to be announced, but most probably it will be sometime in May. This will be for grades K3-5. Grade six are starting some work on their end of year June 10 show and have been learning a few moves to prepare them for secondary expectations.

The Secondary School also had a bit of a relaxed week this week, learning more lift ideas, which brought about much hilarity. The IGCSE students are still hard at work however, with the filming of their choreography iminent. IGCSE pieces are filmed, sent off and judged by an external moderator.

Talking of moderation week I was away for a day learning how to moderate dances for exams. It was an intense experience as the dances were live and so I had to remember everything to judge them.  However, the benefit of this is that there is now a clear yardstick by which I can assess the IGCSE dances and therefore better prepare them.

Have a lovely week off and we will see you on the 12th!
