This week students worked realy hard on their summative assessment projects. Students researched impacts on their ecosystem and made a poster or a drawing to show what they learned about impacts on an ecosystem. We then decided that we wanted to use our persuasive writing skills to take action and help our ecosystems. We explored the website www.change.org and found petitions to sign that supported our ecosystems! Students wrote their OREO (Opinion, Reason, Example, Opinion) messages on a Pages document and then copy and pasted their message into the petition that they chose to sign. It’s very nice to see how excited and proud your children feel to be making a positive difference in the world! Students presented their final posters and food webs to the class today and we were able to ask questions about each other’s ecosystem. We learned alot from each other! To end off our UOI Sharing the Planet, we watched the movie FernGully The Last Rainforest, ask your child what the movie was about and how it connected to our unit of inquiry.

In Math we spent all of last week looking at fractions. As their assessment students were asked to show a balanced food web using fractions. This week we also started tuning into multiplication.

Have a good weekend!
