It has been brought to my attention that a post mentioning the date of the Primary Dance Assembly did not publish, so I will start with that this week.

The Primary Dance Assembly is scheduled for March 26. It will start at 12.20.  The students from K3 to Grade 6 will be featuring Folk Dances from a variety of places. The students are getting very excited at the prospect of performing their dances, and they have worked very hard on the choreography.  We look forward to seeing you there.  A big thank you to the parents who let me know.

Tonight at the International Evening the secondary students share their performance pieces for the Folk Dance unit. The students were asked to choose a country, investigate the traditional dances from that country, identify the steps common to those dances, and then use them in a piece of music (also from the country being investigated) that can be modern.  The students have collaborated to create some rather interesting pieces and I encourage you to make time tonight from sampling the (admittedly delicious) foods to go and enjoy the students’ efforts.

As ever our students have had a lovely week practicing their dances!  This morning, before school, I saw some secondary students having a final practice in the dance room and I must say I appreciate the commitment the students have shown to making their dances as good as they can possibly be.

The final dance unit is coming up soon – stay tuned!  That performance will be June 10, and it promises to be major fun!
