Since opening back in 2008, our school staff have put a huge amount of time and energy into making ABIS better in all respects. Though our efforts to get better will never stop, we are now approaching a standard where we feel that we can seek accreditation from CIS, the Council of International Schools. CIS is the world’s leading organisation for international schools and only offers accreditation to the very best. Oman has 9 member schools, including ABIS, but only one accredited school in TAISM in Muscat. We hope to become the second.
Next week we will have two visitors from CIS who will decide if we are ready to go to the next stage in the process, which would take about two years of reviews and further improvements. They will interview lots of people from Board members, teachers, support staff, administrators, students and parents to ask lots of questions about the school, as well as read through lots of documents and information. We will paint an honest picture of where we are at in our current development, as well as share our future plans and highlight any areas we feel we need to improve.
If you happen to be in school and meet the visitors next week, then please say hello and offer your support. ABIS’s vision is to become a leading school in the GCC, and CIS accreditation will greatly assist us in achieving this challenging goal.
