Secondary students have had an active week since they returned on Monday. We have a new student in Grade 7, Akram Aykour, and wish him well with his studies and hope that he finds his new school welcoming and enjoyable. Building work on the extension to the SLS has begun over the break and much of the foundations are already complete. There has been little sign of any noise disruption so far, which we hope continues.

In the second part of the school year, we focus more on student independence and encourage this through outward bound activities like Oman Week and other sporting challenges that help students test themselves and overcome their fears. We also encourage students to initiate and lead CAS projects as a way of developing leadership skills. Much of our focus is on Grade 7 , who we encourage to take more control of their learning by being organised and prepared, especially at the start of the day.

Here’s some dates for your diary:

Tuesday Jan 13 – we are having our Explore Oman information evening for grades 7 to 9. Please come and find out about the trips your children will be involved in.

Thursday Jan 22 – annual Sports Day – over at Sohar Aluminium’s grounds – please join us

Wednesday Jan 28 – our Secondary Students will be performing at our first Cabaret. This is a new event and we are very excited about it. Tickets go on sale soon!

Feb 8 kicks off Oman Week with Launch Day, in which we will be lay out a range of traditional Omani activities and cuisine.

March 12 is International Evening. This is the school’s biggest event and we hope that we can go one better than last year.
