There’s lots going on next week as we prepare for the Winter break. Though many students will be excited about the holidays and wanting to relax and play, teachers have been asked to be ‘spoilsports’ and keep students focused and learning until Thursday. On Thursday morning we will start the day with a ‘pot luck’ (bring a plate of food) breakfast to celebrate the first 15 weeks of school.

A recent first for ABIS is student surveys. Every teacher is currently surveying students (anonymously) for feedback on the quality of their teaching. This will inform our team on what they do well and what areas they can work on. Research has shown that this can be very effective in helping teachers develop. As a TOK and English teacher, I received some very useful feedback this week, which has given me a couple of focused areas to work on.

On Sunday we have our first ever boys basketball match at the school, which is very exciting! We are playing the Indian school who are very good opposition and will really challenge us. Please come along and watch at 4:30pm if you can make it.

What a fantastic performance by the talented students involved in Ukrainiacs. Congratulations to everyone involved and and thank you for making it happen. A wonderful achievement for the performing arts and a taste of things to come.

This week’s featured photo is Mr Jorge ‘the wizard’ Lopez demonstrating a magic trick as part of our read aloud (teacher share out) sessions.
