On Wednesday, Paul Spice spoke to grades 7–12 about project management. Entertaining and engaging, he kept provided students with valuable and practical information for planning a project. Key ideas shared include…

* Understanding the components of a project: time, cost, defined milestones, final product.
* Breaking a project into individual steps and determining a Critical Path based on a logical sequence of steps
* Understanding the logical connections between steps: finish to start (FS), finish to finish (FF), and start to start (SS)
* Identifying places to improve efficiency or flexibility
* Quality, Time, Cost: Recognizing that any project can only optimize two of these three at the expense of the third.

Please take some time to talk to you child about this presentation as it is a great summary of how to manage projects in school (such as the grades 7 and 8 personal projects, IGCSE coursework, or IB extended essays and internal assessments).
