We’ve had a very productive week 5 in Grade 2. Students finished their mini reports on different cultures and did a great job of taking notes and putting their notes into sentences. The reports have been put up outside the classroom for all to see, please come and take a look at them. We also worked hard on revising and editing our Skippy Jon Jones narrative stories and should have these finished by the end of Week 6. In maths we started our Mighty Math Journals and practiced using words, pictures, and numbers to explain our thinking. We also started Tuning In to our inquiry projects for our summative assessments. All of Week 6 we will be working on our inquiry projects and then presenting our learning at the Grade 2 led assembly on Thursday, October 16th.

This week we also collected items to donate to those in need through the Box Appeal project organized by the Radisson Blu hotel. Thanks to everyone that helped to fill the box and to Theresa for bringing the Box Appeal project to your class.

Fall Holiday Homework
Reading
Students received a new book today and it is expected that they practice reading their book aloud and complete their daily activity in their Reading Journals. In addition students can also read on Raz-Kids at home. Raz-kids class login is jschemenauer0

Math
Math homework is optional as I know that many students won’t have access to a computer or an iPad over the break. However it is recommended as students could benefit from strengthening their number knowledge. If you child doesn’t remember their IXL login, they can login as a guest.

Recommended work on IXL
Year 2 C. Addition -Skill Builders
Year 2 E. Subtraction – Skill Builders
Year 3 A. Counting and Number Patterns

Students can also review any of the skills from Year 2, but please don’t have them work in Year 3 unless specified.

Have a lovely fall break!
