I just wanted to provide you with an update on the events at the port today.
Obviously, we are all shocked what happened. I have just returned from the hospital and fortunately the children involved have only sustained relatively minor injuries, a great deal of stress and upset. One of the children had a broken arm and another is spending the night in hospital before having a small fragment removed from one of her cuts.
Tragically, however, Vanessa (Collin’s Mum) has been very seriously injured and our thoughts and prayers must be with her and her family tonight.
We will be holding a short assembly tomorrow morning at 8.30 for all of those students who were not involved in the incident. The purpose of this will be to give a clear explanation of what happened and to answer any questions that the students may have.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those people involved in managing the situation today for their hard work, compassion and effectiveness under difficult circumstances.
I would also like to thank you for your continued support through these difficult times. I will post an update as and when there is more information.
