What a fun week at ABIS! We really enjoyed all the activities that Ms Simpson prepared for Book Week. All students did a great job during the Book Quiz, and I was very pleased to see how knowledgeable the students are about books and characters. We also enjoyed making personalized bookmarks, listening to the Mystery Readers, and of course dressing up as a book character for the parade!

During this week students also worked in partners to interview teachers in the school to find out more about different cultures. We enjoyed watching the interviews and practiced our note taking skills. We also took a closer look at our third line of inquiry “how cultural values and beliefs influence people’s actions” by going on an “Action Hunt” around the school to see what action ABIS takes that shows off what we value at the school. We determined that our actions at ABIS show that we value learning, fun, health, communication, the learner profile, reading, the earth, safety and many more things!

In language students continued working on their SkippyJon Jones narrative stories and we continued practicing our thinking skills while reading.

In Math we are still working on place value and adding with regrouping. We also had a brief introduction to Math Journals which we will be working more with in the future.

Have a fun weekend!
