Fractions, decimals and percentages are linked to one another. First we worked on fractions, then moved onto decimals and have now begun working on percentages. The class has been looking at what it means (and ways to calculate of course) when a sign says a discount of x percent is being offered. For example a pair of shoes was 30 Rials and is now on sale at 50% off. What strategies can we use or calculate how much we save off the original price? And how do we write a percentage as a fraction?
