We started the morning by wondering what Ms. Fitch wrote on the board. What is Piet Mondrian?

Luckily, we know all sorts of ways to Find Out!

So we figured it out ourselves!

Turns out that Piet Mondrian was an artist who did a lot of abstract art. Abstract art is something that doesn’t look like anything, it depends on who is looking at it!

Some of us thought it looked like Legos, some of us thought it looked like a road map!
We used the Elements of Art to analyse a Piet Mondrian work.

We know a lot about taking ideas apart to analyse them. We analyse maps using the components of maps, we analyse writing using the 6 Traits of Writing…we are pretty good at analysis!

Once we took the idea apart into pieces, it was time to put it all back together in a new way! That is synthesis. Some of us were really inspired by Piet Mondrian, some of us really ran with the abstract idea!

You can check out our art on our websites!
If you end up in a museum or art gallery on the holiday, you can analyse some of the art you see!
