So we have already completed 15 weeks of the school year. Where has the time gone?

Thank you to those who made it to the Secondary assembly on Monday to witness the poetry readings and musical performances. We strongly feel that encouraging students to get up and perform in front of their peers is good life preparation as it builds up their confidence and skills. Though many of these were done with little preparation, as we were reluctant for students to take time off classes for rehearsals, it was particularly uplifting for us teachers to see students conquering their fears and stepping on to the stage to perform. We hope to encourage all of our students to perform in various ways more often.

The time of year has come where Grade 9 students are getting their careers survey results. About a month ago Grade 9 students took a tough aptitude test and rigorous survey that asked 250 questions relating to what they like and what they would like to do. As a result students have now received a comprehensive feedback report that Mr Kearney and myself have discussed with them. The point of the exercise is for students to seriously think about their futures and join the dots between now and their chosen careers. It often leads to greater motivation and focus and was helpful to last year’s students when selecting their IB Diploma options. Visit this site for more information: www.step1ltd.com/

We are very sorry to have to say goodbye to Chelsea and Chloe Cooper and Michaela Martin, three lovely students who have contributed much to the school in many ways. We will really miss them and wish them well in their new adventures overseas. If things go to plan then Michaela will be back with us to complete her IGCSE exams in May so she will remain with us, at least in spirit, until then. A sincere thank you to both families who have supported the school over the years. We will also miss your valuable input and wish you all the best. Both you and your children are our alumni and always welcome at ABIS.

So the time has come for a three week school break. If you are travelling then we wish you a safe and enjoyable trip and if you are staying then we wish you a special time with your family and friends.

See you in January!
